Coyhaique authorities reinforce Hantavirus prevention in schools

Health and Education authorities in Coyhaique are strengthening Hantavirus prevention measures at the Liceo Bicentenario Agrícola e Industrial de la Patagonia. The initiative aims to educate students and staff on practical recommendations to mitigate exposure risks during the season of highest contact with wild rodents.

Education official Tomás Valenzuela emphasized the importance of transferring these self-care behaviors from classrooms to homes, noting that many rural educational establishments require specific precautions due to their locations. School director Fabián Saavedra highlighted the necessity of teaching students to use personal protective equipment (PPE) during field work to maintain safety within the current sanitary alert context.
