Coyote vs. Acme director clarifies Road Runner sound

Director Dave Green has addressed the long-standing debate regarding whether the Road Runner character says ‘beep’ or ‘meep’ in the upcoming film ‘Coyote vs. Acme’. During a discussion about the movie’s unique recording process, Green noted that while a choir vote overwhelmingly favored ‘meep’, the production has decided that it is technically ‘beep’.

The sounds were recorded by the London Voices following an idea by composer Steven Price. While the pronunciation may occasionally sound like ‘meep’, the film will officially use the spelling ‘beep’.

‘Coyote vs. Acme’ is a live-action and animation hybrid that follows Wile E. Coyote as he pursues legal action against the Acme company. The film stars John Cena, Will Forte, and Lana Condor. Originally shelved by Warner Bros. in 2023, the distribution rights were acquired by Ketchup Entertainment. The movie is scheduled for theatrical release on August 28, 2026.
