Cozre Inc. report reveals shifting trends in Japan's educational insurance market

Cozre Inc. has released its ‘Educational Insurance Market Research 2026’ report, revealing shifting trends in how parents in Japan prepare for education costs. The study indicates that educational insurance is no longer viewed as an automatic necessity but rather as one of several selective options for funding education.

Key findings show that while approximately 51% of respondents considered educational insurance after learning of a pregnancy, only about 44% of those who considered it actually enrolled. A significant reason for not enrolling was the preference for other savings or investment methods.

Regarding brand awareness, ‘JA Kodomo Kyosai’ held the highest recognition at 57%. However, in terms of actual enrollment, Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance and Dai-ichi Life Insurance tied for the lead at 14% each. The primary driver for decision-making was the ‘high rate of return,’ emphasizing a desire for reliable savings over aggressive growth.
