Cozre report: Parents express higher anxiety over children's data privacy
A 2026 survey conducted by Cozre Inc. reveals that parents in Japan are increasingly concerned about personal information leaks. Approximately 91% of respondents reported hearing news of data breaches involving companies or organizations within the past month.
The report highlights that anxiety regarding children's data is more acute than anxiety regarding one's own. While 55% of parents feel “very anxious” about their own information, that figure rises to 69% for their children. The most concerning type of leaked information for children is their home address (74%), with 62% of parents fearing that such leaks could lead to physical dangers like stalking.
While many parents have attempted security measures, such as strengthening two-factor authentication (45%) or updating passwords (35%), significant barriers remain. Roughly 46% of respondents stated they do not know specifically what actions to take, and 45% are unsure of the effectiveness of their current measures. Parents expressed a desire for companies to implement thorough measures against unauthorized access and to limit data collection to the absolute minimum required.
