CP launches Templar steam train service between Entroncamento and Tomar

Comboios de Portugal (CP) is debuting the ‘Comboio Histórico a Vapor Templário’ on November 7 and 8. The service will run between Entroncamento and Tomar using a century-old steam locomotive, the CP 0186, which entered service in 1925. The historical composition includes five wooden carriages.

Under the theme ‘A Viagem dos Cavaleiros do Templo’, the journey aims to recreate the 12th-century atmosphere of the Knights Templar. Passengers will experience medieval reenactments, including displays of historical weapons, equipment, symbols, music, and dance. The initiative is a collaborative effort between CP, the Tomar Municipality, and the National Railway Museum Foundation to promote regional heritage and tourism.

Tickets are priced at 26 euros for adults and 13 euros for children aged 4 to 12, including a return trip on a regular service. Additional benefits include free guided tours in Tomar for those traveling from Entroncamento, and free entry to the National Railway Museum for those returning from Tomar.
