CPBL controversy and family duel highlight Rakuten vs. Fubon game

During a CPBL matchup between the Fubon Guardians and Rakuten Monkeys, a controversial play involving Rakuten's Lin Tzu-wei sparked debate. In the second inning, Lin hit a fly ball toward right field. Fubon outfielder Tung Yu-cheng attempted to catch the ball, but after an initial in-play signal, the umpires used a video review to rule the ball fair and determine it had not been fully caught, awarding Lin a double. Fubon manager Goto Mitsutaka expressed disagreement, stating the ball was momentarily fully in the glove, though he noted the player's inability to accept the ruling. Following the play, Tung was substituted due to right knee tension.

The game also featured a rare family matchup as Lin Tzu-wei pitched against his nephew, Fubon player Kung Nien-en. Despite Lin typically pitching slower, he increased his velocity to 135 km/h against Kung. Lin ultimately won the at-bat, resulting in a fly out, and jokingly teased Kung after the game about having suppressed him with his changeup.
