CPI(M) accuses BJP of vandalising party office in West Bengal

The CPI(M) has accused BJP workers of attacking and vandalising its party office in the Cooch Behar district of West Bengal. The incident reportedly occurred on a Saturday night in the Jorpatki area of Mathabhanga No. I Block, following a protest march organized by the Left party.

The protest march in the Golakganj Bazar area was held to demand the removal and punishment of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the inclusion of valid voters in electoral lists, benefits for those not yet covered under the Annapurna Yojana, and measures to control rising commodity prices. CPI(M) district member Moksedul Islam stated that the office was locked after the march and subsequent discussions, only to be attacked a few hours later.

While the CPI(M) alleges that the office was demolished and items inside were vandalised, the BJP has denied involvement. Local police reported that no written complaint has been filed regarding the incident as of now, though they stated an investigation will be conducted once a formal complaint is received.
