CPI(M) leader says Rahul Gandhi has right to claim PM post
CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby stated that Rahul Gandhi, in his capacity as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, would have the right to stake a claim to the Prime Minister’s post should the Opposition secure a majority in the next general elections.
While acknowledging this right, Baby clarified that the CPI(M) is not officially declaring Gandhi as its specific choice for the premiership. He emphasized that the decision regarding leadership should only be made after election results are in, once constituent parties can reach a consensus. He noted that the immediate priority for the Opposition is to defeat the BJP-led government rather than engaging in political speculation or hypothesis regarding future leadership arrangements.
