CPLP Parliament Pushes Faster Mobility Accord as Portugal Prepares 2027 Presidency

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (AP‑CPLP) concluded its XV Inter‑sessional Session in Luanda, Angola. Chaired by Margarida Adamugi Talapa, president of Mozambique’s Assembly and acting AP‑CPLP president, the meeting reaffirmed commitments to democratic governance, institutional integrity and security.

Delegates approved resolutions on transparency, rule of law and gender and youth participation, and called for accelerating the implementation of the CPLP Mobility Agreement to ease the movement of citizens, scholars and professionals across member states. The session also announced that Portugal will assume the CPLP’s rotating presidency in 2027, marking a new leadership phase for the Lusophone community.
