CPP Investments and Brookfield launch C$50B Maple Fund for Canadian infrastructure

CPP Investments and Brookfield Asset Management have launched the Maple Fund, a cooperation framework designed to deploy up to C$50 billion in equity toward large-scale infrastructure projects and strategic industries across Canada.

The two organizations plan to fund investments on a 50/50 basis, with each contributing up to C$25 billion over an initial five-year period. The fund will primarily target opportunities with project equity values exceeding C$5 billion. Unlike a traditional blind-pool fund, each transaction will undergo independent review and approval through the existing governance processes of both firms.

This initiative aims to address financing challenges for complex Canadian projects that require significant capital and development resources. The fund is intended to be incremental to the existing investment programs of both institutions, which remain free to pursue Canadian opportunities independently or with other partners.
