CPR awareness and musical tools aim to increase cardiac arrest survival rates
Health organizations and creators are emphasizing the critical importance of immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to increase survival rates during cardiac arrest. According to the World Restart a Heart initiative, performing CPR immediately upon witnessing a cardiac arrest can double or even triple the chances of survival.
In Mexico, the Secretaría de Salud notes that performing CPR and defibrillation within the first three to five minutes is fundamental to emergency care. In observance of World CPR Day, the Association for Children's Hearts (ACORI) has called on parents, teachers, and caregivers to undergo training to recognize cardiac emergencies and act before medical services arrive.
To assist with the technical execution of these life-saving measures, intensive care physician Borja Díez and musician Pablo Perea have collaborated on a project titled ‘LATE’. The song is specifically designed to help bystanders maintain the recommended compression rate of 100 to 120 beats per minute during resuscitation efforts, while also aiming to reduce the fear associated with intervening during an emergency.
