Rio Grande do Norte police arrest 12 for exam fraud

Twelve people have been arrested in flagrante by the Civil Police of Rio Grande do Norte for suspected fraud during the public examination for the State Penal Police. The operation, which took place in Natal and Mossoró, uncovered evidence of electronic devices, including earpieces, being used to transmit answers to candidates. Investigators believe third parties were solving exam questions outside the testing sites and transmitting the information to participants.

The operation was supported by the State Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration (SEAP) and the State Secretariat of Administration (SEAD). Most arrests occurred in Mossoró, with two in Natal. The suspects face potential charges under Article 311-A of the Penal Code, which addresses the unauthorized use or disclosure of confidential information from public examinations, carrying a penalty of one to four years in prison plus fines.

In separate incidents across Brazil, various law enforcement actions were reported, including a motorcycle seizure operation in Natal, a theft investigation in Mossoró, and a security operation for medical students taking the ENAMED exam in Rio Grande do Norte. Other regional reports include a fatal shooting involving a military sergeant in Itaúna, a shooting during a futsal match in Natal, and a workplace dispute in Campo Verde that resulted in a shooting and a manhunt.
