CPSC recalls 1.5 million OCOOPA rechargeable hand warmers after injuries and death

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of about 1.5 million OCOOPA‑branded rechargeable hand warmers after receiving 1,480 reports of overheating. The incidents include 15 fires, 350 burn injuries and the February 2026 death of an 83‑year‑old man in San Diego, California.

The recall covers seven model numbers (UT3053, UT3056, ZLS‑118, ZLS‑118S, ZLS‑118D, H01 and H01‑PD). The dual‑sided devices, sold in two‑packs with USB‑C charging ports, were marketed online through Amazon, Walmart, Ocoopa.com and Ocoopa.net from September 2018 through May 2026 and were manufactured in China by Shenzhen Street Cat Technology Co. Consumers are instructed to stop using the warmers immediately, mark them with the word “RECALLED,” and submit a photo of the marking, model number and batch code to obtain a full refund via OCOOPA Direct.
