CPTPP facilitates supply chain diversification and trade growth

The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) is evolving into a critical platform for global supply chain diversification. As trade policies shift and established relationships become less stable, the bloc offers a framework for companies to reorganize production networks and reduce dependence on single-source suppliers.

In Vietnam, the agreement provides opportunities for the nation to leverage its position as a regional manufacturing hub. Businesses are encouraged to use CPTPP markets not only for exports but also to source inputs and diversify supplier networks. The bloc is also expanding, with Costa Rica and Uruguay seeking membership.

For the United Kingdom, accession to the CPTPP is estimated by the World Trade Organization to boost bilateral trade by approximately £4.9 billion ($6.5 billion). The agreement will eliminate tariffs on more than 99% of goods shipped from the UK to partner nations and provides the UK with its first free trade agreements with Malaysia and Brunei.
