CQC upgrades King's College Hospital and Coventry NHS Trust services to Good ratings

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspected King's College Hospital in South London in April and raised its surgery services from ‘Requires Improvement’ in 2019 to ‘Good’ after seven years of targeted improvements. Inspectors noted better staff training, a culture of learning and praised the kindness and respect shown to patients, while highlighting remaining challenges such as staffing levels and waiting times.

In Coventry, the CQC gave a Good rating to the gynaecology services at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The inspection highlighted safe, effective, caring and well‑led care, with particular praise for compassionate staff, multidisciplinary teamwork and innovations such as robotic surgery and an Endometriosis Centre. A minor area for improvement was identified in staff training compliance.
