Cracow University of Technology students win James Dyson Award Poland

Students from the Cracow University of Technology have won the Polish national stage of the 2026 James Dyson Award for their invention, AgroSysIT. The team, consisting of Aleksandra Sierakowska-Byczek, Klaudia Kuźmiak, Julia Radwan-Pragłowska, and Łukasz Janus, developed a portable optical laboratory and application designed for rapid soil analysis.

AgroSysIT allows users to quickly determine soil pH, nutrient content, and specific contaminants. The device aims to bridge the gap between inaccurate field tests and expensive laboratory analyses, enabling farmers to make precise fertilization decisions. This technology seeks to address soil degradation and food security issues caused by improper fertilizer use and climate change.

Two other Polish projects have also advanced to the international stage: the BeeHUB intelligent beehive monitoring system by Sebastian Górecki, and the TS Walker telescopic walker by Jakub Cichoń and Natalia Rzadek. The winners will now compete for international prizes to support further development and commercialization of their inventions.
