Craft beer traditions and festivals highlighted in Brazil

The Oktoberfest in Blumenau has introduced a new parade attraction, the Drahtesel Kuriere, replacing the traditional 'Tricicleta do Chope' after 16 years. The original three-seater bicycle, which began in 2009, became too small to accommodate the growing number of participants. Inspired by historical cargo bicycles used by delivery workers in Blumenau during the 1920s, the new attraction aims to innovate within the festival's professionalized parade lineup.

In Nova Lima, the Uaiktoberfest 2026 showcased the region's growing craft beer market. The event featured several breweries, including Colt Brew, Clan, Krug Bier, Läut, Slod, and Cervejaria 040. Notably, Krug Bier, founded in 1997 by Austrian brewmaster Herwig Gangl, remains a significant figure as Minas Gerais' first independent microbrewery. Other participants like Colt Brew, led by Lucas Magalhães, have also gained national and international recognition in brewing competitions.
