Craft Recordings and Verve announce new jazz reissue series
Craft Recordings and Acoustic Sounds have announced the ‘Moodsville Acoustic Sounds’ series, a new audiophile reissue project focused on the influential Prestige Records subsidiary. The series, which launched on September 18, features three jazz classics: the Red Garland Trio with Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis’ ‘Moodsville, Volume 1,’ the Frank Wess Quartet’s ‘Moodsville, Volume 8,’ and Coleman Hawkins’ ‘The Hawk Relaxes.’ These releases utilize all-analog AAA mastering from original tapes and will be available on 180-gram vinyl and high-resolution digital formats.
Additionally, Benny Carter’s 1962 album ‘Further Definitions’ is being rereleased on vinyl as part of the Verve Acoustic Sounds Series. The album, which features an octet including Phil Woods and Coleman Hawkins, showcases Carter’s work as a bandleader and arranger. The reissue is scheduled for release on September 28, 2026.
