Craig Skinner free to join Cadillac after Red Bull departure

British designer Craig Skinner has officially completed his gardening leave following his departure from Red Bull Racing, clearing the way for him to join a new Formula 1 team. Skinner, who spent over two decades at the Milton Keynes-based outfit, most recently served as chief designer during Max Verstappen’s three consecutive driver championships from 2022 to 2024.

Cadillac is considered the frontrunner to secure Skinner’s services, having reportedly held advanced discussions with him. While Alpine has also expressed interest, Skinner is said to prefer a move to the American project. Cadillac is aggressively building its technical structure by targeting experienced F1 talent.

In addition to Skinner, Cadillac is also pursuing Red Bull’s chief engineer, Paul Monaghan. Although Red Bull aims to retain Monaghan, Cadillac is reportedly offering a higher salary and a more senior position within its organizational hierarchy.
