Craigdarroch Castle to Host New Market on South Lawn in August
A market is slated for the south lawn of Craigdarroch Castle in Greater Victoria, British Columbia, on August 15. The event is a partnership between the historic site and local bike‑gear retailer Fender Bender, with visitor experience coordinator Julia Kassam‑Theim saying the castle’s large lawn provides an ideal backdrop for community gatherings.
The market will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., feature about 30 vendors, and include a bike valet service. New safe cycling lanes on Fort Street allow easy access to the venue at 1050 Joan Crescent. Built by coal baron Robert Dunsmuir, Craigdarroch Castle is a national historic site often used for weddings and other events, and its management is monitoring parking impacts.
The market aims to attract locals and visitors alike, offering a mix of vendors and entertainment while promoting active transportation to the historic landmark.
