Craiova hosts 19th International Congress of Press History
The city of Craiova hosted the 19th International Congress of Press History on September 25-26, 2026. Organized by the Romanian Association of Press History (ARIP) in partnership with the C. S. Nicolăescu-Plopșor Institute of Socio-Human Research of the Romanian Academy, the Council for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (CRIFST), and the Dolj County Council, the event focused on the theme of utilizing archival resources through the press.
The congress marked several milestones, including the 20th anniversary of ARIP and the 60th anniversary of the C. S. Nicolăescu-Plopșor Institute. It also coincided with the 2026 Romania-Italy Cultural Year. The event utilized a hybrid format, attracting researchers and academics from Romania, Italy, San Marino, Vatican City, Israel, the United States, Poland, Spain, and Moldova.
Proceedings were held at various locations, including the Art Museum of Craiova and the Faculty of Orthodox Theology. The theological faculty hosted five communication sessions covering topics such as scientific press in the Romanian cultural space and the archives of Oltenia.
