Crans-Montana fire investigation: Jessica Moretti excused from questioning

Jessica Moretti, co-owner of the Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, has been excused from a scheduled confrontation with her husband, Jacques Moretti, by Swiss prosecutors. The hearing was part of the ongoing investigation into a deadly fire at the bar on January 1, 2026, which resulted in 41 deaths and 115 injuries.

Following a recommendation from a psychotherapist, prosecutors decided to postpone Jessica Moretti's testimony due to her mental health status. Her legal team provided documentation citing an “acute post-traumatic stress” and a “particularly important state of psychological fragility.” The specialist warned that a direct confrontation with her husband posed a real risk of “acute psychological decompensation.”

While Jessica Moretti's hearing is postponed indefinitely, Jacques Moretti is scheduled to be questioned as planned on November 2. Jacques Moretti is currently in provisional detention regarding separate allegations of domestic violence against his wife.
