Jessica Moretti requests injury indemnity following Crans-Montana fire

Jessica Moretti, co-owner of the Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, has requested a daily work injury indemnity from Zurich Insurance following the New Year's Eve fire that killed 41 people and injured 115 others. The claim, based on Swiss law regarding loss of earnings due to health damages, is currently under review. While the Valais Cantonal Prosecutor's Office has granted authorization for the insurance company to proceed with potential payments, Zurich Insurance has reportedly labeled the request as unfounded and is preparing legal countermeasures.

Moretti and her husband, Jacques Moretti, are among the primary suspects in the investigation into the fire, which is alleged to have been caused by a sparkling candle on a champagne bottle. The investigation includes charges of manslaughter, injury, and arson. Jacques Moretti is currently in custody on separate charges of domestic violence against his wife. Jessica Moretti remains under judicial restrictions, including the requirement to stay in Switzerland and participate in periodic police video calls. She has expressed concerns regarding potential retaliatory actions from the families of the victims.
