Crédit Mutuel Arkéa recovers portion of funds stolen in cyberattack

Crédit Mutuel Arkéa has recovered a portion of the funds stolen during a recent cyberattack, according to Daniel Baal, president of the Confédération Nationale du Crédit Mutuel (CNCM).

While the exact amount recovered has not been specified, the total amount stolen is estimated to be over 100 million euros, with some reports suggesting the figure is approximately 118 million euros. Daniel Baal confirmed on France 5 that no individual customer accounts were affected by the breach.

Investigations into the incident have been assigned to the Office anticybercriminalité (OFAC). Baal noted that while many cyberattacks are motivated by financial gain, others aim to cause destabilization, and it remains unclear whether this specific attack originated from within France or from abroad.
