Spain police arrest individuals for smuggling and labor exploitation

Spanish authorities have conducted several operations targeting illegal immigration and labor exploitation. In Ceuta, police arrested a Moroccan man after discovering a migrant hidden in a specially modified compartment under the rear seats of a vehicle attempting to board a ferry to Algeciras.

In other regions, law enforcement addressed exploitation of foreign nationals. In Fuerteventura, a business owner was detained for employing undocumented workers under abusive conditions, including paying them only in food and toiletries. In Córdoba, an entrepreneur was arrested for allegedly recruiting 12 foreigners with false promises of employment and housing, only to subject them to irregular working conditions and unpaid wages.

Additionally, a Spanish national was imprisoned in Ceuta after being caught piloting a rubber boat carrying 19 migrants across the Strait of Gibraltar. The individual faces charges related to illegal immigration and endangering the lives of the passengers, who were traveling without life jackets.
