Córdoba femicide investigation sees new arrests in Agostina Vega case

The investigation into the femicide of 14-year-old Agostina Vega in Córdoba, Argentina, has seen recent developments. Gabriel Vega, the victim's father, shared an emotional letter Agostina wrote to him for his birthday in February 2025, just months before her death in late May.

Authorities have recently detained Matías Córdoba and Ludmila Scurra, who are identified as being linked to the circle of Claudio Barrelier, the primary suspect in the case. The legal team, led by attorney Fernanda Alaniz, has criticized the delay in detaining suspects, suggesting that the period of freedom may have allowed for the potential alteration or removal of evidence at the crime scene located on Del Campillo street.
