Latin American regions face climate risks and infrastructure needs

Various regions in Latin America are facing significant environmental and infrastructural challenges. In Peru, CENEPRED has issued warnings regarding high risks of landslides and 'huaicos' in hundreds of districts across the sierra and northern coast. Additionally, 58 districts in Huancavelica are at risk due to water deficits and drought, which could impact agriculture and food security.

In Argentina, several provinces are managing water infrastructure projects. Works are underway in Sierras Chicas and Villa Trinidad to improve potable water supply and pressure. In Santa Rosa, water service is being restored following technical works on the Colorado River aqueduct, while Villa La Angostura has begun strategic interventions to prepare for increased summer demand.

In Colombia, the government is transitioning from emergency response to reconstruction following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Cali. Interior Minister Rodrigo Lara announced that rental subsidies will be provided to families who lost their homes or were forced to evacuate, as authorities focus on debris removal and structural assessments.
