Córdoba highlights historical heritage and cultural landmarks

The city of Córdoba is highlighting its rich historical heritage through recent events and cultural exhibitions. The Mezquita-Catedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, recently faced a minor emergency on August 8, 2025, when smoke was detected inside the monument. Rapid intervention by staff and firefighters limited the fire to a very small area, preventing damage to the historic structure and allowing the site to reopen to visitors the following day.

Additionally, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Córdoba is hosting a temporary exhibition titled ‘Arte y Turismo en Córdoba’. The showcase features lithographs by the Scottish Romantic painter David Roberts, who traveled through Spain between 1832 and 1833. The exhibition, running from September 22 to October 18, offers a nineteenth-century perspective on the city, including depictions of the Roman Bridge and the Mezquita-Catedral.
