Córdoba launches tourism village award entry and historic cemetery route

Villa General Belgrano was selected as Córdoba’s representative among eight Argentine destinations to compete in the Best Tourism Villages 2026 program, an initiative of the UN World Tourism Organization. The choice was announced at the Federal Tourism Council meeting in Mendoza, after evaluating 56 applications from 19 provinces. Agency director Darío Capitani said the selection “recognises the sustained work to preserve the town’s identity, boost its traditions and consolidate a model of sustainable tourism development.”

The province also unveiled the “Camino Turístico de Cementerios Cordobeses,” a circuit that links historic cemeteries across Córdoba. Presented at the Museum Tamburini during the XV Argentine Days of Cemetery Heritage Management, the route offers guided tours that highlight architectural, artistic and cultural values of the sites. The initiative aims to protect and promote funeral heritage, strengthen community identity and expand tourism experiences. Capitani added that “in Córdoba we continue developing products that allow discovering the province from new perspectives.”
