Córdoba Martyrs Aurelio, Natalia, Félix, Liliosa and Jorge Remembered on July 27

On July 27 the Catholic Church commemorates five Christian martyrs—Aurelio, his wife Natalia, Félix, his wife Liliosa, and monk Jorge—who were executed by decapitation in Córdoba, Spain, in 852 during a period of Muslim persecution. Their story describes how they initially concealed their faith, later professed it openly, were arrested, and suffered martyrdom.

The same liturgical entry also recalls other blessed figures, notably Beato Sebastián de Aparicio, a 17th‑century Galician who migrated to Mexico, built roads, founded the first industrial school there, and devoted his wealth to aiding the poor before entering religious life.
