Córdoba projects record grain harvest of over 42 million tons
The Córdoba Ministry of Bioagroindustry projects a record grain harvest for the 2024/2025 campaign, estimating production will exceed 42 million tons. This would mark the highest volume in 60 years, contributing approximately one-third of Argentina's total national grain production.
Minister Sergio Busso attributed the projected increase to favorable weather conditions and producer investments, specifically noting expanded corn acreage and record wheat yields. The volume is expected to surpass the 2018/2019 campaign.
During the 92nd Río Cuarto Rural Exhibition, Busso highlighted the economic impact of export duties, stating that Córdoba producers are expected to contribute approximately $2.2 billion to the national government. He criticized the long-standing taxation on the sector, advocating for the elimination of these duties.
Additionally, the Minister discussed a pending biofuels law in Congress. He noted that increasing blending percentages could drive local investment and job creation, suggesting that each percentage point increase could support new industrial plants.
