Córdoba Province, Argentina adopts anti‑bunker law to combat drug trade

The unicameral legislature of Córdoba Province approved the new Provincial Anti‑Bunker and Anti‑Aguantaderos Law, a first‑of‑its‑kind measure in Argentina aimed at disrupting drug‑sale sites, hidden narcotics hubs and abandoned or deteriorated buildings used for criminal activity. The law establishes a specific administrative and judicial regime that allows authorities to intervene early, including provisional closures, sealing, access blockages and custodies, while preserving due process.

Implementation will be led by the provincial Ministry of Security, with coordination from the Ministry of Justice and Labour and the Provincial Anti‑Narcotics Police (FPA). An inter‑agency unit and a Provincial Registry of Intervened Assets are to be created to centralize data and streamline actions. The bill was championed by Governor Martín Llaryora and passed unanimously, with Vice‑Governor Myriam Prunotto presiding over the session. The same legislative session also approved several legislative licenses and awarded long‑service recognitions to provincial employees.
