Córdoba Province sees 42% jump in rainfall during first half of 2026
An official report from the Ministry of Bioagroindustry, using data from the Meteorological Stations Network, confirmed that the Argentine province of Córdoba experienced a 42 % increase in accumulated precipitation from January to June 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. The same period recorded an average temperature about 1.1 °C lower than the previous year.
The extra water boosted crop growth, pasture conditions and the recharge of water reserves, but also caused temporary flooding in some areas and delayed agricultural operations. To turn the wetter conditions into a long‑term benefit, the provincial government highlighted its "#PintemosDeVerde" programme, which promotes soil‑conservation practices such as cover crops, crop rotation, responsible water management and erosion control. Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources Marcos Blanda said each practice that improves soil conditions helps make better use of water and reduces the impact of extreme weather events.
The report underscores the role of the Meteorological Stations Network as a key tool for environmental monitoring and policy planning in the face of changing climate patterns.
