Córdoba residents march for justice in Agostina Vega femicide case
Family members and supporters of 14-year-old Agostina Vega marched in Córdoba to demand justice and further investigation into her femicide. The protest began in the Cofico neighborhood near the home of Claudio Barrelier, the primary suspect, and proceeded toward the provincial Legislature.
Agostina disappeared on May 25 after visiting Barrelier, and her remains were discovered five days later in an open area in Ampliación Ferreyra. While prosecutor Raúl Garzón has moved to bring six individuals to trial—including Barrelier and others such as Matías Córdoba, Eugenia Ascarruz, Osvaldo Fascetta, Soledad Andreani, and Marianela Palmero—the victim's father, Gabriel Vega, has criticized the judicial progress as being “a medias” (halfway).
The family is demanding that the investigation expand to include other potential accomplices and cover-ups, asserting that the current legal proceedings do not yet account for all responsibilities in the crime.
