Claudio Barrelier faces aggravated homicide charges in Córdoba femicide case

Three suspects in the murder of 14‑year‑old Agostina Vega were brought before the Córdoba provincial courts. The main accused, Claudio Barrelier, was formally charged with triple‑qualified homicide aggravated by femicide, a change announced by prosecutor Raúl Garzón. Barrelier refused to give further testimony, stating only that he denied the alleged facts.

Osvaldo Fassetta and Soledad Andreani, accused of aggravated concealment, are also scheduled for indagatory hearings. Investigators say Barrelier lured Vega to his home in the Cofico neighbourhood, sexually assaulted and strangled her, then attempted to hide the body using a Ford Ka belonging to Andreani before burying it in a vacant lot in Ampliación Ferreyra.

During the hearing, Barrelier's lawyer Jorge Cassini said, “Se le tomó declaración, ha negado los hechos que se le atribuyen y se abstuvo de seguir declarando.” The victim’s mother has urged the court to expand the charges, citing a message in which she said, “Él fue el único que la vio. Nadie más la vio, ni siquiera los amigos, nada. Él sabe dónde está mi hija.” The case continues to draw intense public attention in Argentina.
