Córdoba to host Mediterranean Capital of Culture and launch Smart Economy project
The city of Córdoba is preparing for significant cultural and technological developments. In 2027, Córdoba will serve as the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue, a designation intended to highlight its historical role as a center for intercultural dialogue. Project commissioner Juan Miguel Moreno Calderón is coordinating efforts between municipal, regional, and national institutions to prepare for this role.
Simultaneously, the Diputación de Córdoba has launched the ‘Córdoba Smart Economy’ project, backed by a 6 million euro investment from European funds (FEDER). This strategic initiative aims to address regional challenges such as rural depopulation and aging demographics through digitalization. The project focuses on modernizing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), upgrading the agri-food sector, and implementing smart technologies in public administration and rural tourism.
