Argentina reports multiple child fatalities and abandonment cases
Argentina has seen a series of tragic incidents involving children. In Córdoba province, two separate fatal dog attacks occurred on the same Friday. A two-year-old girl died in Córdoba city after being attacked by two Dogo dogs in her uncle's home. In Alta Gracia, a two-year-old boy was killed by a pitbull while his mother was preparing to bathe him; the dog's owner has been detained and charged with involuntary manslaughter. Additionally, a four-year-old girl in Villa Dolores remains in serious condition following an attack by a family pet.
In other regions, authorities in Florencio Varela discovered seven siblings, aged 2 to 11, living in abandoned and unhygienic conditions. The children were hospitalized, with the youngest suffering from severe malnutrition and dehydration. Their parents have been detained on charges of abandonment.
In Berisso, a six-year-old girl died in a house fire, which investigators believe was caused by a fallen candle in a home without electricity. Meanwhile, in Corrientes, a court issued a historic ruling sentencing a 71-year-old doctor to suspended prison for the killing of a dog.
