Cream band marks 60 years of musical influence
The influential rock band Cream, formed in July 1966, is being recognized for its impact on the musical landscape of the 1960s. Comprising guitarist Eric Clapton, bassist Jack Bruce, and drummer Ginger Baker, the trio sought to combine the energy of rock and rhythm & blues with the instrumental freedom characteristic of jazz.
During their active 27-month period, the band released four albums: Fresh Cream (1966), Disraeli Gears (1967), Wheels of Fire (1968), and Goodbye (1969). They also performed nearly 300 concerts, achieving significant commercial success and establishing a hybrid sound that influenced both rock and jazz through extensive improvisation and technical virtuosity.
