Creamfields festival site search uncovers large quantities of buried drugs

Ahead of the 20th anniversary of the Creamfields electronic dance music festival at Daresbury Estate, Cheshire Police have discovered large quantities of illegal drugs buried at the site. During pre-festival searches, specialist teams recovered multiple large bags containing MDMA, ecstasy, and ketamine, along with 249 nitrous oxide canisters.

Police officials noted that burying drugs months in advance has become a recurring issue at the venue. Andy Blizard, head of the Cheshire Police specialist search team, stated that despite a zero-tolerance policy, individuals continue to attempt to hide substances in the ground to evade detection. He added that officers are working to identify the owners of the recovered items.

The festival, which expects 80,000 attendees, features a lineup including Calvin Harris, Carl Cox, and Disclosure. To accommodate global fans, Creamfields has partnered with Beatport to provide a live stream of performances from several stages throughout the anniversary weekend.
