Creative Arts Agency seeks land for welfare homes in Accra

The Creative Arts Agency is seeking support from Ghana’s Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to secure land in Accra for a welfare project. The initiative aims to provide shelter and care for aged, vulnerable, and needy members of the country’s creative arts community who have contributed to the nation’s cultural growth.

During a meeting with the Agency’s Governing Board, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah pledged institutional assistance to help realize the project, which is described as a presidential legacy project. To facilitate this, the Agency has established a Welfare Committee tasked with identifying suitable sites and improving the socio-economic conditions of industry practitioners.

Anthony Obeng-Afrane, chairman of the Agency’s Governing Board, confirmed that a formal application has been submitted to the Lands Commission. Minister Buah has committed to following up on the request to ensure the necessary land is allocated for the construction of these specialized care facilities.
