Creative Assembly to allow 'cheese' tactics in Total War: Warhammer 40,000
Creative Assembly developer Dave Petry has addressed the use of 'cheese' tactics in the upcoming Total War: Warhammer 40,000. Speaking at Gamescom, Petry explained that the studio does not aim to eliminate these unconventional or less honorable tactics entirely, as they can contribute to an authentic gameplay experience.
The developer's approach involves distinguishing between 'bad cheese' and 'delicious cheese.' When evaluating problematic mechanics, the team analyzes whether a tactic adds enjoyment or negatively impacts gameplay. They also consider whether a tactic aligns with the intended lore and representation of the game, such as ensuring Space Marine armor does not appear ineffective against low-level weaponry.
Planned updates for the title include revisions to reinforcement mechanics through the implementation of strategic reserves.
