Creative Robotics Contest 2026 to be held in Shibuya

The Creative Robotics Contest 2026 is scheduled to take place on September 20, 2026, in Shibuya, Tokyo. Organized by the Research Institute of STREAM Education for Creating the Future (RISE) and supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the event aims to foster problem-solving and inquiry-based learning through robotics.

Twenty-five finalists who passed the preliminary rounds will compete in two categories: the Theme Inquiry Division and the Time Attack Race Division. The competition theme is “Let’s make Japan’s future better with robots.” Participants will present their robot designs and programming skills, demonstrating how they use technology to address social or regional challenges.

Takayuki Furuta, director of the Future Robot Technology Research Center at Chiba Institute of Technology, will serve as the chairperson of the judging committee. The event is supported by Human Academy, which will provide expertise from its robotics and programming education networks to assist the contestants.
