Creck Hardware donates fire engines to Lilongwe and Mangochi councils

Creck Hardware and General Supplies has donated two fire engines, valued at K300 million, to the Lilongwe City Council and Mangochi Municipal Council in Malawi. The donation aims to strengthen emergency response capabilities and protect lives and property.

During the handover, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Ben Phiri noted that the lack of service vehicles has previously hindered responses to devastating fires. The donation follows a call for the private sector to support national development efforts. Apostle Clifford Kawinga, director general of Creck Hardware, stated that the company intends to contribute to public safety and economic growth by giving back to the communities where it operates.

The event highlighted a significant infrastructure gap in the country, with Minister Phiri acknowledging that more than 25 councils across Malawi currently lack a single fire engine.
