Credem enters exclusive talks to acquire BdM Banca
Credem has entered exclusive negotiations with Mediocredito Centrale (MCC) to acquire the controlling stake in BdM Banca. The deal is intended to significantly strengthen Credem’s presence in Southern Italy, particularly in regions such as Campania, Puglia, Abruzzo, and Basilicata. BdM Banca operates a network of over 200 branches and reported profits of 32 million euros last year.
Valuations for BdM Banca are estimated to be between 500 and 600 million euros. Credem’s interest in the acquisition was reportedly influenced by the economic offer as well as guarantees regarding employment and support for local territories. Other major players, including Unicredit and Crédit Agricole, were not selected for this specific negotiation.
In a separate transaction, Banco Desio has been selected to negotiate the acquisition of Cassa di Risparmio di Orvieto from MCC. This move is part of Banco Desio’s strategy to expand its territorial presence. Both deals are expected to reach a closing by the end of the year.
