CrediaBank receives BB rating with positive outlook from Fitch
Fitch Ratings has assigned CrediaBank a long-term issuer rating of BB with a positive outlook. The agency also rated the bank’s deposits at BB+, placing them just one notch below investment grade.
This initial assessment reflects a significant shift in CrediaBank’s credit profile following a balance sheet cleanup and capital strengthening. Fitch noted that the bank’s improved financial position is driven by enhanced profitability and an adequate capital position following a recent capital increase.
The acquisition of HSBC Malta is expected to be a pivotal factor for the bank’s medium-term credit profile. Fitch anticipates this transaction will increase the Group’s scale, strengthen geographic diversification, support earnings, and improve the funding and liquidity profile through a stronger deposit mix.
