Credit Agricole posts €2.05 bn net profit as revenue rises 7.7% in Q2 2026
Credit Agricole announced net profit of €2.05 billion for the second quarter of 2026, beating analysts' expectations of about €1.9 billion. Revenue reached €7.36 billion, up 7.7% year‑on‑year and above the forecast of €7.03 billion.
The results were driven by strong performance in the asset‑management arm Amundi and higher earnings from French retail banking. Investment‑banking revenues grew 4.4%, aided by robust equity‑trading activity, while income from fixed‑income activities stayed flat. Operating expenses totalled €3.87 billion and cost of risk was €470 million, lower than market estimates.
The bank also raised its stake in Italy's Banco BPM to 29.3%, reinforcing its influence amid a wave of consolidation in the Italian banking sector. CEO Olivier Gavault said the group has “very strong international growth drivers and is optimistic about the coming quarters.” The CET1 capital ratio fell to 11.3% from 11.9% a year earlier but remained slightly above expectations.
