Crema Cathedral to host solemn celebrations for miraculous Crucifix
The Cathedral of Crema will host three days of solemn religious celebrations from September 13 to 15, 2026, to honor the miraculous Crucifix. The event coincides with the liturgical feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and the memory of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Sorrows.
For the first time in years, the inaugural celebrations will take place directly at the Crucifix altar, which will be decorated with 18th-century silverwork. The program includes Solemn Vespers led by parish priest Don Angelo Frassi, featuring Gregorian chant and meditations on historical miracles traditionally attributed to the effigy, such as the ‘miracle of the ears of corn’ and the ‘powder magazine miracle.’
The festivities will also see the return of the ‘Hymn to the Miraculous Crucifix,’ a composition by the late maestro Francesco Manenti, with lyrics by the late Don Giuseppe Degli Agosti.
