Crema mobility concerns raised for elderly residents

In Crema, municipal councilor Ilaria Chiodo has raised concerns regarding mobility challenges facing elderly and vulnerable residents following the closure of the via Cadorna bridge on June 5.

Demographic data indicates a high concentration of residents over the age of 70 in the San Bernardino, Vergonzana, and Castelnuovo neighborhoods, with percentages ranging from 18% to nearly 24%. Chiodo noted that these citizens are being forced to use longer, more strenuous routes to access essential services, supermarkets, and healthcare facilities.

Proposed solutions include the creation of a safe pedestrian and cycle path in San Bernardino to connect residents to the Bettinelli walkway. Additionally, Chiodo highlighted the hazardous condition of sidewalks on via IV Novembre, which are uneven and discontinuous, complicating access to the city center for those with motor disabilities.
