Cremona allocates 1.5 million euros for emergency storm repairs
The Municipality of Cremona is allocating approximately 1.557 million euros from its own resources to address urgent safety interventions following the mesocyclone that struck the city on August 28. Vice Mayor and Budget Councilor Francesca Romagnoli announced that these funds, which will be presented to the City Council on October 12, are intended to cover off-budget debts incurred during the immediate aftermath of the storm to secure buildings and public areas.
The city is currently awaiting a response from the national government regarding requests for a state of emergency and reconstruction funds. While the current allocation covers immediate emergency measures, additional financing will be required for the full restoration of public buildings, roofs, and urban greenery. To fund these urgent repairs, the municipality is utilizing free surpluses and recent cash inflows, a move that necessitates postponing some investments originally planned for 2026.
