Italy reports multiple arrests for domestic violence and labor exploitation
Various criminal incidents and judicial rulings have been reported across Italy, primarily involving domestic violence, stalking, and labor exploitation.
In several cases of domestic abuse, individuals have faced immediate legal consequences. In Casalmaggiore, a man was removed from his home and fitted with an electronic bracelet following years of physical and economic abuse against his wife and children. In San Salvo, a 40-year-old woman was arrested for threatening her ex-partner and his new companion with knives. Similarly, in Portogruaro, a 32-year-old man was jailed for allegedly abusing his partner during pregnancy and extorting her mother.
Other judicial matters include a 25-year-old in Spoleto arrested for threatening his parents with kitchen knives, and a 36-year-old in Genoa arrested for breaking into an ex-partner's home to force the withdrawal of a domestic abuse complaint. In Mondovì, a prosecutor has requested a 10-month sentence for a woman accused of condominium stalking.
In the business sector, the Bologna Tribunal imposed a 12-month judicial administration on a furniture manufacturer in Forlì due to labor exploitation and the “cottage system.” Additionally, the CGIL union raised alarms regarding the “Mani d’oro” operation, noting that labor exploitation and tax evasion are increasingly infiltrating industrial sectors like metalworking.
